Air Vice Marshal Paul Olugbeji Jemitola GSS psc fdc(+) PhD MRAeS CEng COREN has assumed office as the 12th Commandant of Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna on 6 January 2023. He took over the mantle of leadership from his predecessor, Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Aminu Yakubu who has been posted to Headquarters Nigerian Air Force as Chief of Aircraft Engineering (CAcE). Speaking shortly after the exchange of seats, Air Vice Marshal Jemitola commended his predecessor for the giant strides recorded under his command and promised to build on his success as he noted that leadership is a continuum.
AVM Jemitola while responding to the handing over brief said he is not surprised at the impact and achievements recorded under AVM Yakubu’s command. “He has always been exceptional and has a touch of excellence in all he does”. He also noted that even as an AVM, MA Yakubu still repairs and maintains aircraft because he is dedicated to the service.
The Commandant also commended the management staff for the support given to his predecessor and appealed to them for support to build upon the achievements of AVM Yakubu. According to the Commandant, in the coming days he will meet with the management staff to unveil his vision and plans as he intends to consolidate on his predecessor’s achievements and add his own bit to the mandate and mission of the Institute.
In his farewell remarks, the out-gone Commandant Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Aminu Yakubu thanked the Chief of the Air Staff for giving him the opportunity to serve as Commandant AFIT. He also appreciated everyone for their support and charged all to continue with their good works to ensure the growth of the Institute.
Other senior officers who have been posted from AFIT are the out-gone Deputy Commandant Air Vice Marshal Cosmas Chiebonam Ozougwu to Defence Headquarters as Director Monitoring and Evaluation Communications and the Registrar Air Commodre EO Oloukun. In the same vein, Air Vice Marshal AK Ademuwagun has assumed office as the Deputy Commandant of the Institute.
