Profile of Air Force Institute of Technology Commandant

  1. Air Vice Marshall Sani Labaran Rabe was born on 24 Dec 66 in Katsina State, Nigeria.  He attended Dutsin Amare Primary School from 1973 to 1979 and Government Secondary Technical School Mashi from 1979 to 1984. He gained admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy on 10 Sep 88 as a member of 40th RC and graduated with a B Eng in 1992. He was commissioned into the NAF on 17 Sep 93.
  2. Courses attended include Engineering Officers, Abridged Licensee, Pressurized Metal Airframe, Gas Turbine, Junior and Senior Staff as well as National Defence Course among others. He also obtained a Masters in Aerospace Vehicle Design from the Cranfield University, UK in 2009. Rabe is a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and a member of Council for the Regulation of Engineer (COREN) as well as National Institute of Management. He was a member of the team that produced AMEBO, the first indigenous UAV.
  3. Air Vice Marshall Rabe is an aircraft engineer by trade, he served in several NAF Units in various capacities, including instructional, staff and command positions. He was the Director of Research and Development until his recent appointment as the thirteenth Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna.
  4. Medals and honours awarded to him are FSS, MSS, DSS, Silver and Golden Jubilee, psc, fdc and fawc(+). AVM SL Rabe is happily married and blessed with 6 children. His hobby is watching documentaries on nature.
