71

The Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Adeniran Kolade Ademuwagun, has announced that students who graduate with first class and those who pass out with Merit for diploma programmes would be rewarded with scholarships. These students would also receive priority consideration in all decisions affecting them at the Institute.

AVM Ademuwagun disclosed this policy during his maiden meeting with all 100 Level students of the Institute offering either the National Universities Commission degree programmes or the National Board for Technical Education diploma programmes. The scholarship scheme, according to him, was designed to benefit newly admitted students as they now have the opportunity to focus on their studies from the start of their academic journey in AFIT.

In addition to the scholarship announcement, AVM Ademuwagun said that he was committed to prioritizing infrastructural development to create an environment conducive to learning and to maximize students’ academic performance. He highlighted the importance of maintaining discipline within the Institute, making it clear that any form of indiscipline would not be tolerated as AFIT has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards drug use, fraud, theft, and indecent dressing.

The Commandant assured students of their freedom to worship and clarified that only religious centres officially approved by the Nigerian Air Force, namely the Mosque, Catholic and Protestant centres, would be permitted on the Institute’s premises. The essence, according to him, was to ensure a respectful and orderly environment that supports the students’ spiritual needs while aligning with the Institute’s regulations.
