THE COMMANDANT APPROVES INTER- AND INTRA-FACULTY TRANSFERS FOR THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION
Air Vice Marshal AK Ademuwagun has reiterated his commitment to students’ welfare by providing a flexible academic pathway. The Commandant approved this initiative to ensure that every student has the opportunity to study courses or join a department that aligns with their career goals and interests. In this recent development, aimed at enhancing students’ academic welfare and enabling them to pursue their true passions, the Commandant has graciously approved the commencement of inter- and intra-Faculty Transfers for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval which takes effect from Monday, 3 August 2026, is seen as a major step in prioritizing students’ interest by allowing them to switch to courses that align with their interest and career aspirations. The initiative demonstrates the Institutes’ commitment to not just academic excellence but also to the personal and professional fulfillment of students.
AVM Ademuwagun’s decision provides a critical pathway for students who may have found their initial offers misaligned with their skills or interests. By offering this opportunity, AFIT demonstrates a responsive approach to students’ welfare recognizing that true academic success often flourishes when passion meets education.
However, the process is structured to maintain standards and not a means to avoid academic rigour. The Institute has made it clear that the transfer is not automatic and is strictly subject to vacancies and carrying capacity. To ensure only serious and qualified students benefit, the guidelines stipulate a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale for highly sought after programmes, such as Aerospace Engineering, Cyber Security and Computer Science. The application process is designed to be accessible yet thorough. Interested students are advised to consult their Academic Level Advisers before applying and must obtain the application forms from the Academic Affairs unit after paying a non-refundable fee of N10,000.
With the deadline set for 15 August 2026, the Commandant’s approval offers a fresh start for many, reaffirming AFIT’s dedication to shaping not just skilled graduates but fulfilled individuals that can be marketable in the competitive labour market.
