The Commander of the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (CCST), Major General AA Adeyinka on Friday, 13 June 2025, commended the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), for the training of Nigerian Army personnel on Aviation Fuel Handling and Management procedures. The training which falls under the Logistics Management Department of AFIT prepares participants for real-time engagement in aviation fuel supply, bowser management, fuel dispensing and calibration.  It would be recalled that the Nigerian Army recently activated its air wing thereby necessitating the training of its personnel on aviation-related fields. According to Maj Gen Adeyinka, the Corps of Supply and Transport (CST) had the responsibility of providing aviation fuel to the aviation wing of the Nigerian Army and that led to the nomination of personnel from CST for the course in the Institute. AFIT remains the sole tripartite university in Nigeria that is dedicated to the training of students in different aspects of aerospace technology.

The Commander, on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen OO Oluyede, thanked the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal HB Abubakar, for graciously making the programme tuition free for Nigerian Army personnel. He said the aim of the visit was to assess the progress of the trainees and further share their own experiences with AFIT for the benefit of the two services. He expressed satisfaction on the experience gained by the Army officers and soldiers on the maiden aviation fuel handling and Management course.  He added that their individual and collective reports have been extremely encouraging.

In his address, the AFIT Commandant, Air Vice Marshal Sani Labaran Rabe, assured the CCST of the continuous support and collaboration of AFIT to improve the operational productivity and efficiency of the Nigerian Army aviation wing. According to him, the collaboration in aviation fuel handling will improve logistics support and enhance successful military operations. The technical training course which was inaugurated in April this year was a significant stride in capacity building. It wasdesigned to equip participants with the requisite knowledge and hands-on skills for managing Aviation Bulk Fuel Installations, conducting aircraft fueling operations, ensuring aviation fuel quality control, operating bowsers, and executing other critical tasks that support the operational readiness of the Nigerian Army Aviation.
