The Commandant, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Air Vice Marshal SL Rabe, today, 17 October 2023, assured the Special Centre Director, National Open University of Nigeria(NOUN), Kaduna, that he will collaborate with him to enhance the manpower development of students within their institutions. AVM Rabe gave the assurance when the Special Centre Director, Professor Nda Mundi, paid him a courtesy visit to strengthen the existing cordial relationship between the two institutions of higher learning.
Air Vice Marshal SL Rabe said that he was delighted to receive the representatives of the National Open University and expressed delight for the long standing relationship between both institutions. He commended the numerical growth of the NAF Base Special Study Centre as well as relationship between the staff of AFIT and NOUN’s management team. He pledged to support and assist the Centre within available resources.
Earlier, Professor Nda Mundi had disclosed that the Special Centre which started inside the NAF Base in 2008 and relocated to the NAF Mammy Area in 2018 with 400 students now has a student population of over 4,000. He expressed appreciation for the construction of a four-block classroom building and offices by the Nigerian Air Force to ease the problem of accommodation. He called for greater support to enhance the expansion programme of the Centre.
Present at the event were the Deputy Commandant, AFIT, AVM AO Shogbanmu; AFIT Provost, Professor Mohammed Dauda; Director of Quality Assurance, Associate Professor Ibrahim Yahuza; and other staff officers.
