529

In line with his determination to forge graduates who are not just ready for the future, but who will define it, the Commandant, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), AVM AK Ademuwagun, has assured students of the Institute that artificial intelligence, robotics and modern systems would be deployed in the training of AFIT undergraduates. The essence, according to him, was to execute a research agenda focused on pioneering mission-critical innovation. He added that relevant organizations would be involved in the provision of world-class training in various fields to expose the students to the socio-economic realities of modern day society. He further assured students that the Institute would enter into symbiotic relationship with critical stakeholders to ensure that students conduct their internship in the best companies available as it was not necessarily the best idea that produces change but the availability of the medium to take it to the next level.

AVM Ademuwagun who was addressing students as a prelude to their semester examination, encouraged students to prepare adequately for their assessment and to have confidence as they had the capacity to excel. He warned them to desist from negative influences but to confront issues and ask pertinent questions relating to their academic goals. He disclosed that adequate medical facilities have been provided at the Institute’s hospital with seasoned doctors and nurses. Students were therefore advised not to patronize local pharmacy stores but to report to the hospital for proper medical care. He added that an ambulance was constantly on standby and any student could call for it at any time should there be an emergency.

The students who were excited at the opportunity of interacting with the Commandant, used the opportunity to clarify gray areas and to appeal to the Commandant to create such opportunities to facilitate a robust student-staff interface. The Provost, Professor Auwal Kasim, Registrar, Air Cdre I Shehu, Deans and HODs attended the Commandant’s interactive session with students.
