- Background
- Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Adeniran Kolade Ademuwagun was born on 3 May 1971. He hails from Ikare Akoko, Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State. The senior officer attended King’s College Lagos after which he was admitted into the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy in September 1989 as a member of the 41 Regular Course. He was commissioned as a Pilot Officer in September 1994, having bagged a Bachelor Degree Honours in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He progressed steadily through the ranks and was promoted to the enviable rank of Air Vice Marshal in November 2021.
COURSES ATTENDED
- In the course of his career, Air Vice Marshal Ademuwagun has attended military and professional courses at home and abroad. Some of the courses include Junior and Senior Staff Courses at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji Nigeria and the National Defence College Abuja, Nigeria. He holds a Master’s in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering (MTEL) from Obafemi Awolowo University Nigeria, Master’s in Engineering (Project Management) from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology at Trondheim Norway, Master’s in Philosophy (MPhil) in Security and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna, Nigeria and PhD Engineering from the University of Aberdeen Scotland.
APPOINTMENTS HELD
- Air Vice Marshal Ademuwagun has served in various operational, planning and training capacities. These include Military Personnel Officer 3 (MPO3) at the United Nations Mission Democratic Republic of Congo, Head of Department, Electronic Communications School at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Kaduna, Assistant Director Information Communications Technology at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force and Dean, Faculty of Ground and Communications Engineering AFIT Kaduna. Other appointments held by the senior officer are Director of Information Communications Technology at AFIT Kaduna, Commander 651 Base Services Group Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja Lagos, Director of Communications Engineering, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force Abuja, Deputy Commandant AFIT Kaduna, and the Director of Defence Space Utilisation at Defence Headquarters Abuja. Before his present appointment as the fourteenth Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna, Air Vice Marshal AK Ademuwagun was the Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command, Lagos.
AWARDS AND DECORATIONS
- The senior officer has several awards and decorations which include; General Service Star (GSS) Distinguished Service Star (DSS), Pass Staff College(psc) and Fellow National Defence College (fwc). Air Vice Marshal Ademuwagun is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and Certified Member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
MARITAL STATUS
- The senior officer is married with children. At his leisure, he enjoys walking, playing squash, journaling, reading, playing scrabble, bird watching and analysing situations.
