The Commandant, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Air Vice Marshal Sani Labaran Rabe, today, 29 November 2023, assured a delegation led by Professor Fatima Batul Mukhtar from Azman University that AFIT workshops and facilities are available to support students desirous of improving their technological knowledge. AVM Rabe stated this when the delegation came to seek areas of collaboration with AFIT. He expressed appreciation for the quest by Azman University to interface with seasoned institutes like AFIT for mutual support in the areas of learning and research.
AVM Rabe commended the University for embracing web based learning through online classes. He informed the delegation that despite the misconception by many scholars that AFIT was mainly a military institution, the student population was made up of 90 percent civilians and a paltry 10 per cent military personnel. The same ratio also applied to teaching and non-teaching staff.
The Vice Chancellor of Azman University, Professor Fatima Mukhtar, disclosed that the University had 20 programmes which cut across Aviation Security, Aviation Management, Sciences to Computing. According to her, the School had gone beyond its contemporaries and had constituted its Board of Trustees, Governing Council and had appointed Principal Officers for the daily administration of the University. She therefore called for strategic research collaboration in the area of aviation, staff training and use of AFIT facilities by Azman students eligible for the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme.
It would be recalled that Azman University was among the 37 private universities approved by the Federal Executive Council of Nigeria on 15 May, 2023. The School intends to commence full degree programmes by January 2024.
