Students of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) displayed brilliance as they excelled at the National Orientation Agency (NOA) National Campus Debate held at the North-West zone of the country. The programme, “which is a flagship youth civic engagement programme of NOA,” was designed to foster national integration, promote critical thinking and amplify youth voices in public discourse.

The students, Pelumi Abigail of Accounting Department and Great John of Economics department, handled the state-level debate topic, ‘Analysing how digital technologies and innovative thinking can unlock entrepreneurial potential and drive inclusive economic growth”. They proceeded to the next stage where they addressed the topic, “Unity in Diversity: Defining Nigeria’s Identity in Nigeria’s Multicultural Society”.
The Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu, expressed gratitude to the Air Force Institute of Technology for the effective participation of the Institute in the competition. He noted that the presence of the Institute had elevated the spirit of constructive engagement among Nigerian youths. According to him, the voice of the students had inspired many just as their arguments had enlightened the audience.
The Provost of the Institute, Professor Auwal Kasim, expressed delight at the performance of the AFIT students. He remarked that AFIT was known for excellence and he was therefore not surprised that the students represented the Institute appropriately and performed exceedingly well.
