AFIT CONSULT HOLDS WORKSHOP FOR CAREER SERVICES STAFF ON OPERATIONS OF CAREER SERVICES FOR ENHANCED EMPLOYABILITY

In line with its quest for excellence, the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), on Monday, 20 January 2025, commenced a 5-day Intensive Training Workshop for career services staff of the Institute on the operations of career services for enhanced employability. The workshop with the theme, “Empowering Futures, Mastering Career Services for Students Success,” conducted  by Kadpoly Consults Nigeria Limited in conjunction  with Ethical Compliance and Management Consults Limited was aimed at equipping participants including Deans, Head of Departments with the necessary skills, tools and strategies to offer students the support they need to thrive in their post university careers.

Professor Kasim added that, “events like this workshopare always deeply gratifying and fulfilling as they reaffirm the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Technology’s commitment to manpower development which remains a crucial tool in fulfilling its constitutional mandate and reinforces its motto, which is, “Quest for Excellence”. He added that the 5-day workshop could be described as a “train-the-trainer” programme and urged attendees to remain focused throughout the duration of the training by avoiding all forms of distraction. 

Speaking during the event, the Commandant, Air Force institute of Technology, Air Vice Marshal Sani Rabe, who was represented by the Provost, Professor Auwal  Kassim, declared the workshop urged the participants to remain focused as the workshop would help them  develop the relevant skills to mentor and provide support for their students during post-university careers. He applauded the organising partners for providing seasoned resource persons to handle the wide range of topics that were essential for career services operations and development.

In his remarks, the Registrar, Air Commodore MS Lawal, urged the participants to concentrate actively for the  benefit of their students.  He also thanked the Commandant, for making the resources available for the training as approved by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).

Earlier, the Managing Director, Kadpoly Consult, Dr. Aliyu Hassan said that they were interested in staff development, adding that staff development in an institution like AFIT cannot be over-emphasized and called on the participants to develop their academic capacity especially in workshop and seminars in the course of their careers.
