AVM AA Olabisi

AVM Abulganiyu Adeyinka Olabisi GSS psc(+) fdc(+) BSc (Hons) MSc unsdu was born on 9 Oct 65 at Offa in Kwara State. He had his primary and secondary education in Kaduna where he sat for his WASC in 1983. He was enlisted into the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of 35 Regular Combatant Course on 19 January 1984. He was commissioned in the rank of Pilot officer on 20 December 1986. AVM AA Olabisi has attended several military and civil courses locally and overseas. He attended the Basic Technical Officers’ Course at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Kaduna from 1987-1990 specializing in aircraft electrical and avionics systems. He also attended type-rating courses on Nigerian Air Force Mi-35P Helicopter and G-222 medium transport aircraft in Russia and Italy respectively. He attended the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Nigeria for his junior and senior courses. He was a participant of the United States Industrial College of the Armed Forces Programme 2011/2012 at National Defence University, Washington DC. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. In the Course of his career, the Senior Officer is privileged to have held a number of appointments. He was Officer-in-charge Jaguar Flight/Admin Officer at the defunct No1 Engineering Group Makurdi, S02 Engineering at HQ NAF (1998-2000); Officer Commanding E&I Squadron at 97 Special Operations Group Port Harcourt (2000-2001); Directing Staff at Armed Forces Command and Staff College from (2003-2005), Co-coordinator Young Officers Course and Deputy LOTRAC Coordinator at Air Force Institute of Technology and 325 Ground Training Group (2005-2007); G-222 Project Coordinator of 401 Aircraft Maintenance Depot Ikeja (2008-2009). He also served as Principal Staff Officer to Chief of Defence Staff at Defence Headquarters (2009-2011); Deputy Director PLANS at HQ NAF (2012-2013), Directing Staff at National Defence College Abuja, later Director National Military Strategy from (2014 – 2015). He was Commandant defunct Ground Training Centre from (Sep 2015 – Dec 2016). Director of Air Engineering at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force (Dec 2016 – Jul 2017); Chief of Aircraft Engineering (Jul 2017 – Jan 2019). Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command (Jan 2019 – Jan 2020). On 10 Jan 20, he was appointed Commandant Air Force Institute of Technology where he has undertaken lofty projects and created avenues for improvement of the Institute. AVM Olabisi is a consummate administrator with an eye for detail. His hobbies include brisk walking and playing squash. He is happily married with 4 children.
