The Chief of Air Staff and Chairman AFIT Governing Council, Air Marshal Isaiaka Oladayo Amao commissioned a hall named in his honour by the Commandant of Air Force Institute of Technology Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Aminu Yakubu. The hall which was previously the Donier Air Hangar was given a facelift and retrofitted as a 200 capacity hall to reduce the strain on the Ibrahim Alfa Auditorium and the Yisa Doko Hall. The commissioning ceremony took place shortly after the CAS chaired the Institute\u2019s 2022 Governing Council Meeting which is the first he has attended since assumption of office.<\/span><\/div>\n

Air Marshal Isaiaka Oladayo Amao while commissioning the lecture hall commended the Commandant of AFIT AVM MA Yakubu for the giant strides recorded under his command. He also noted that the Institute wears a new look as the Oladayo Amao lecture Hall and other renovated buildings have given AFIT a facelift.<\/div>\n
Earlier the Commandant Air Force Institute of Technology, Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Aminu Yakubu in his briefing stated that the Oladayo Amao Hall which can accommodate more than 200 students at a time, contain 5 toilets and 3 ensuite offices for Professors. According to the Commandant, the need for additional lecture rooms for the increasing number of students necessitated his administration identifying the old Dornier Yard as suitable facility for conversion into a befitting lecture theatre to help relieve the pressure on Ibrahim Alfa Hall and provide office accommodations for professors that are yet to be properly accommodated.<\/div>\n

During the guided tour of facilities, Air Vice Marshal MA Yakubu led the Chief of the Air Staff and members of the Governing Council to the Machine Workshop to inspect over ten machines that have been fully reactivated. These machines had hitherto been considered moribund and unserviceable for over twenty years. He further stated that all the machines were fixed by AFIT staff at a significantly less cost than procurement of new machines or even having contractors repair the machines.<\/div>\n
Other significant facilities that the CAS and members of Governing Council inspected during the tour include the ongoing construction of SB Abubakar Road (350 metres long) that will give staff and students direct access to the Institute, installed fifty-one (51) x Solar-powered street lights on the road leading to male and female hostels, newly constructed AFIT Clinic Annex, newly constructed guard posts, newly installed 300KVA transformer and electric poles to serve the male hostels amongst others.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
