AFIT PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO HONOURABLE MINISTER OF COMMUNICATIONS AND DIGITAL ECONOMY

The Commandant, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Kaduna, paid a familiarization visit to the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Prof Isah Pantami on Tuesday 8 March 2022 in Abuja. The visit was undertaken as part of the Commandant’s desire to collaborate with all relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies to effectively achieve the mandate of the Institute.
The Commandant, AFIT, Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Aminu Yakubu in his presentation stated that the purpose of the visit was to first introduce himself to the Minister and officially appreciate the Ministry and its parastatals for result oriented approach and passion displayed in technology and innovation towards advancing the growth and development of the nation. The Commandant specifically appreciated the Minister for the digital library donated to the Institute when he was the Director of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). According to him, the computers formed the foundation of the Institute’s electronic library.


The Commandant used the opportunity to further explore areas of collaboration with the Ministry and also requested that the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami to deliver a public lecture involving stakeholders in the Aviation Industry at the institution so as to create more awareness about the benefits of launching 5G network as well as dispelled rumours associated with it. The Commandant commended the Minister for his result oriented approach and significant achievements brought to the sector, among others.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami in his welcome address said that he is delighted to receive the Commandant and his team. In his response, Prof. Pantami said that he is humbled and encouraged by the Commandant’s kind words in recognizing his modest contribution in Communications and Digital Economy and promised to do more for the nation.
With regards to the Commandant’s invitation to deliver a lecture in AFIT, Prof. Pantami said although he schedule is very tight at the moment, his team and AFIT will work together to come with an appropriate time for the lecture. He also urged the Commandant and his team to specify the area of intervention and promised to support them within the limit of their budget. He further commended AFIT’s progression since inception to date especially as it has to do with global trends and challenges in areas of aerospace and allied disciplines.
