The Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology, Air Vice Marshal AK Ademuwagun, today 14 November 2025, promised all teaching and non-teaching staff that he would ensure a conducive learning environment with fairness and firmness.  The Commandant who gave the assurance at the maiden durbar with all staff, warned against exploitation of students and negative attitude to work by staff of the Institute. He stated that students were the main reason all staff were in the Institute and must therefore be guided and directed appropriately to actualize the set goals of the Institute. He promised to resolve accommodation challenges, address promotion lapses, provide teaching aids and improve healthcare facilities.

AVM Ademuwagun used the opportunity to present his vision for the Institute which is “To position the Air Force Institute of Technology as the nation’s definitive center for advanced technology education and research, directly powering the Nigerian Air Force’s operational and strategic advantage through a superior, intellectually agile workforce”. He listed the 4 strategic pillars as “Forge graduates who are not just ready for the future, but who will define it; Execute a research agenda focused on pioneering mission-critical innovation; Champion the holistic health and well-being of our entire AFIT community; and Provide a 21st – century learning and research environment through sustained investment in infrastructure”.

It would be recalled that prior to his appointment, Air Vice Marshal Ademuwagun had served as a Deputy Commandant, Director and Dean in the Institute. The experience during these periods positioned him appropriately to administer the Institute meticulously as it gave him a broader understanding of the system, work schedule and dynamics prevalent in the Institute.
