AFIT ON THURSDAY 17th MARCH 2016 MATRICULATED 172 NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) MILITARY AND CIVILAIN STUDENTS FOR THE 2015/2016 ACADEMIC SESSION.
Air Commodore MA Soladoye, the Commandant of the Institute, urged the matriculating students to be enthusiastic, determined, diligent, focused and resilient. He said they should see their admission as not only noble but glorious and advised them to maintain a positive attitude and aim high.
The Commandant, in his speech warned the matriculating students against vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, indecent dressing and drug abuse and urged them to strive for academic excellence to justify their parent’s investments.
Meanwhile, the Provost of the Institute, Professor Emmanuel Ezugwu, in his address explained that the mandate of the institute is to conduct research and offer certificate, National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), Graduate and post Graduate programmes in various aerospace, aeronautical and allied disciplines.
The Registrar, AFIT, Group Captain OI Fesobi, administered oath on the new students and congratulated them stating that Out of the staggering number of applicants, only very few candidates were admitted.
One hundred and Seventy two (172) students matriculating today would be joining this category of privileged students to undertake programmes in aerospace, aeronautical and Allied programmes. The 172 students comprise sixteen (16) females and one hundred and forty six (146) males. Among the 172, 135 of them were given admission into School of Air Engineering while 37 were admitted into the School of Ground and Management studies.
The Matriculation dovetailed into the decoration ceremony of four newly promoted Pilot Officers currently undergoing the Electrical/Electronics and Radar Officer's Course in the Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna. The Officers were graciously decorated with their new ranks of Flying Officer by the invited Senior Officers and the Commandant AFIT.
