AFIT COLLABORATES WITH KADPOLY AND NOTAP ON FOREIGN TRANFER DOMESTICATION PILOTS: TRICYCLE PROJECT

In a bid to work towards the development of the Nigerian economy and promotion of indigenous technology, the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) and Kaduna Polytechnic paid a courtesy visit to the Commandant Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), AVM TA Adokwu.

The Acting Director of NOTAP Engr J.U.L Nwosa seeks for collaboration between AFIT and KADPOLY in the conceptualizing and implementing of a special project that will focus on acquiring available foreign technologies in the market, testing their adaptation and facilitate their full domestication. He further disclosed that the project involves the construction of a mobile fruit juicer tricycle with solar powered cooling unit and1.5 KVA inverter for an uninterrupted power supply. He said that the project is aimed at creating job opportunities in order to solve unemployment problem in Nigeria because the project will be diversified to produce different types of three wheel vehicle with indigenous technology to serve different purposes.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna Polytechnic team leader, Mr. Moses Obafunmi in his remarks explained the detailed framework of the project and progress achieved so far in the project. He solicited for AFIT support and partnership since the institute has knowledgeable professionals and scientist that could assist in the realization of the project especially in the structural design and modification.

Responding, the Commandant AFIT thanked the teams for initiating such laudable project and also deeming it fit to partner with AFIT in its actualization. He promised to assist the stakeholders in facilitating the construction of a mobile fruit juicer tricycle with solar powered cooling unit. The Commandant constituted a committee to represent AFIT interest actively in the project actualization.

Highlight of the event include display of some AFIT projects, brief on the operational status of the projects, discussion on implementation process of the projects and a group photographs.
